Enjoy the Beach and Have Fun at Seaside, OR

If you’ll be visiting Oregon’s beautiful coast this year, plan to spend a day relaxing at Seaside. Seaside is a charming small town located 90 minutes from Portland. If you like spending time at the beach, shopping, and visiting fun attractions, you’ll enjoy a visit to Seaside.

There are two miles of ocean front boardwalk at Seaside. Incredible ocean views and fun attractions are available all along the boardwalk, including amusement rides and arcades, snacks and souvenir shops.

With its fun activities, terrific views and location right on the beach, Seaside’s boardwalk along Broadway is entertaining for kids as well as adults. Broadway is Seaside's main street, and at the end of Broadway, you’ll see The Turnaround. This is a roundabout routing traffic away from the street’s dead end at the Pacific Ocean.
 In the center of The Turnaround is a statue of Lewis and Clark, signifying their “turn around” at this location more than 200 years ago. Seaside is a national landmark: in 1806, members of the Lewis and Clark expedition built a salt-making cairn at the present day site of Seaside.

Downtown Seaside is beautifully decorated and landscaped with flowers and plants. It is the perfect setting for shopping the boutiques, mini-malls and antique stores located here. There is a wonderful variety of eateries in Seaside, as well, You can dine on fresh seafood, sample Oregon wines or relax over a casual lunch at one of the many restaurants and taverns in town.

You won’t want to miss a ride on the Town Center Carousel during your visit to Seaside. A tour of Seaside Aquarium is also a great way to spend an afternoon. The friendly, playful seals at Seaside Aquarium are its most popular attraction.
In addition to all of these great attractions, you can enjoy your favorite recreational activities on the beautiful, white sand beaches at Seaside. Saltwater swimming, surfing and kite flying are popular Seaside activities. You can also build sand castles or play volleyball, tennis or golf. Fish for steelhead, salmon, trout and other game fish, or go crabbing at the 12 Avenue bridge in Seaside.  

One of the best things about Seaside is how easy it is to access all of its attractions. There is plenty of parking available in a parking lot within walking distance of the beaches and downtown area at Seaside. If you would like to explore the beautiful natural wilderness areas along Oregon’s coast, there are miles of walking and hiking trails within minutes of downtown Seaside.

Seaside hosts many special events and marathons throughout the year, including the Seaside Sand Sculpture Spectacular. If you plan to visit Seaside during one of its special events or festivals, be sure to book accommodations reservations well in advance.
