Heceta Head Lighthouse - Florence, Oregon
Visit Heceta Head Lighthouse along the Oregon Coast. The Heceta Head Lighthouse situated in the central area of Oregon's coast is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the U.S. Heceta Head Lighthouse and the Keeper's House sit on a cliff more than 100 feet above the Pacific Ocean and the beach below. The views from the Lighthouse and Keeper's House are spectacular, and you can visit, tour or stay on site to enjoy the Lighthouse year round.
Heceta Head Lighthouse and Keeper's House date to approximately 1894, and they are both on the National Register of Historic Places list. Heceta Head Lighthouse is a working lighthouse, and its "first order" Fresnel lens beams 20 miles or more out to sea. It is the brightest light along the entire Oregon coast.
The Queen Anne style Keeper's House is fully restored. A bed and breakfast and interpretive center are located at the Keeper's House. The Interpretive Center at Heceta Head Lighthouse is located on the first floor of the Keeper's House. Parking is available at the Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint, with a parking fee of $3 per day.
Heceta Head Keeper's House Tours
During the summer months, docents offer guided tours of the Keeper's House at Heceta Head. You can take a tour Thursday through Monday from noon until 5 pm, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Personal tours can be arranged at other times throughout the year, as well. Tours of Heceta Head Lighthouse and Keeper's House are offered free of charge, although donations are welcome.
Heceta Head Lighthouse Tours
Tours of the Heceta Head Lighthouse are available daily from 11 am until 5 pm, March through October. You can arrange a tour of the Lighthouse at Heceta Head outside of the regular season by calling 800 551-6949. An observation area at the Lighthouse is open during park hours year round.
Heceta Head Lighthouse Gift Shop
The gift shop at Heceta Head Lighthouse is situated in an old generator room between the Keeper's House and the Lighthouse. You can purchase a terrific selection of souvenirs and gifts here, including local art, models, clothing, books, nautical-themed items and more.
